The 2007 Wilson Family Reunion will be held at the Elkhorn Lodge in Chama, New Mexico. Chama is an 1880’s logging and mining town in northern New Mexico just south of the Colorado border. Chama can be reached from the north via Alamosa and Antonito, CO (Hwy. 17), the west from Pagosa Springs, CO (Hwy. 84), or the east from Taos, NM (Hwy. 64).

Reunion Day – Saturday June 16, 2007

The Elkhorn Lodge has a covered pavilion for meals and gatherings.

Meal Plan

Friday Night: No formal dinner plans – potluck, bring something to share.

Saturday and Sunday Breakfasts: Breakfast will be provided by the hosts.

Saturday 1:00 PM: The big meal. Hosts will provide the main entrée, others bring a vegetable, salad or dessert dish to share. Family meeting and pictures following the meal.

Saturday Evening: No formal plans. The Elkhorn holds a Cowboy Chuckwagon Supper & Show every Saturday in the pavilion, so we will move to a tent pavilion about 4:00 PM. You can enjoy the Chuckwagon for dinner (adults $19, kids $9) or visit one of the nearby restaurants in Chama. If you plan to attend the Chuckwagon, make reservations with the Elkhorn staff when you reserve your accommodations.

All Meals: Bring your favorite beverages and enough to share. A cooler will be provided.

Housing/Camping

The Elkhorn has 22 one and two-bed rooms and 11 fully-equipped cabins with kitchen and baths. Call (800) 532-8874 for reservations or visit their website at www.elkhornlodge.net. Be sure to mention you are with the Wilson Reunion. They also have three RV sites which they don’t advertise. You will have to ask. If their RV accommodations don’t meet your needs, check the Little Creel Resort next door at www.littlecreelresort.com or call (505) 756-2382.

Activities

Hiking and fishing in the Chama river are popular day time activities. We plan to have a campfire both Friday and Saturday evenings so bring your favorite Wilson stories to share.

The big tourist attraction in Chama is the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. The train rides take most of the day, so they would need to be planned for Friday or Sunday. Information and reservations can be found at their website at http://www.cumbrestoltec.com or by calling 1-888-286-2737. Ticket reservations are required and they recommend ordering at least two weeks in advance.

Note: A printed copy will be mailed to everyone on the mailing list.
